Gerry Burke: “THE WAY IT WAS -Pals, Pols, Rogues, Rascals and Relatives”

On Sunday, February 25, 2018, The Éire Society of Boston and Doyle’s Café proudly presented Gerry Burke and “THE WAY IT WAS -Pals, Pols, Rogues, Rascals and Relatives.” Holding forth in the back room at Boston’s most historic of watering holes for the political and politically connected, Irish family scion and establishment owner Gerry Burke regaled the enrapt audience with the legendary tales – and lies – of yesteryear. The insider lines on James Michael, Honey Fitz, Mansfield, Peters, Hynes and Collins were all revealed, but with the parting admonition, in the words of the great Seamus Heaney: “Whatever you say, say nothing.“ The company and the “craic” were outstanding – an experience not to have been missed.
